Near the end of the season, BMHA hosted its annual C/House Senior’s Night and Scholarship Game, celebrating our graduating C/House players and their contributions to the Association.

As part of that event, two scholarships of $450 each were awarded to graduating players pursuing post-secondary education.

Our U18C5 Bulldogs exemplified the values of sportsmanship throughout the season.

Competing in the U18 Blue Division, they earned 19 of a possible 20 sportsmanship points and maintained one of the lowest penalty minute totals among BMHA’s U18 House teams. Their commitment to respect, discipline, and fair play helped set the foundation for a successful season that culminated in a playoff banner championship.

The FRED HUME MEMORIAL AWARD recognizes the A/Rep team that best demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship, respect, and fair play throughout the season.

This season our U18A1 Bulldogs demonstrated that success and sportsmanship can go hand in hand. Competing in U18A1, they earned 20 of a possible 22 sportsmanship points, maintained the lowest penalty minute total in Flight 1, and finished first overall in Flight 1. Their commitment to discipline, respect, teamwork, and fair play made them deserving recipients of this award.

The Most Improved Official Award recognizes an official who has demonstrated exceptional growth and development throughout the season.

Garren demonstrated tremendous growth throughout the season, increasing both the number and level of games he officiated while continually improving his skating, positioning, confidence, and game management.

He also played a significant role in BMHA’s mentorship program, helping many new officials develop their skills and confidence. His dedication to both personal improvement and supporting others made him a deserving recipient of this award.

The Referee of the Year Award recognizes an official who demonstrates professionalism, consistency, leadership, and excellence throughout the season.

Fenix may be a quiet official, but he consistently earned the respect of coaches, players, and fellow officials through his confidence, professionalism, and strong game management.

Throughout the season, he took on many high-pressure U13 A1 games, demonstrated excellent judgment on the ice, and played an active role in mentoring newer officials.

His outstanding season was recognized by BC Hockey when he was selected to officiate at the U13 A1 Tier 2 Provincial Championships.

The Jack Gilroy Award for Most Outstanding U11C/Atom House Goaltender is awarded to a U11C/House goaltender who has made a meaningful contribution to their team throughout the season, both on and off the ice, and in games and practices.

Easton demonstrated tremendous character, perseverance, and commitment throughout the season. After facing early disappointment, he responded with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and determination to improve.

Nominators described him as a leader both on and off the ice, a supportive teammate who helped bring the team together, and a player who consistently gave his best in every game and practice. Easton’s dedication, resilience, and contributions to his team’s success made him a deserving recipient of this award.

Most Valuable Rep Goaltender award is presented to an A/Rep goaltender who has made a meaningful contribution to their team over the course of the season, both on and off the ice and in games and practices.

Keyaan was repeatedly described as a dedicated teammate, role model, and leader whose impact extends far beyond his performance in net.

Nominators highlighted his exceptional work ethic, determination, and positive attitude, noting that he consistently leads by example both on and off the ice. Whether balancing hockey with academics, supporting teammates through challenges, mentoring younger goaltenders, or stepping up whenever his team needed him, he has demonstrated the character, sportsmanship, and commitment that this award is intended to recognize.

The Terry McLean Memorial Award Most Valuable House Goaltender is presented to a C/House goaltender who has made a meaningful contribution to their team during the season, both on and off the ice and in games and practices.

Noah is repeatedly described as the backbone of his team. Nominators highlighted his outstanding work ethic, composure under pressure, and ability to deliver when it mattered most. Time and again, he stepped up in big games, made key saves, and gave his team the confidence to compete against strong opponents.

Beyond his performance in net, Noah was recognized for his dedication, sportsmanship, and commitment to his teammates. Whether at games or practices, he consistently demonstrated the character and leadership that this award represents.

The Gary Boyle Memorial Award for Sportsmanship, Character & Hockey Ability is presented to a player who demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, strong character, and respect for the game.

Mason was repeatedly recognized for his leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his teammates.

Nominators described him as a player who leads by example, makes everyone around him feel valued, and consistently puts the team ahead of himself. One nominator shared that after being elected team captain by his teammates, he voluntarily stepped aside and nominated the team’s only graduating player to wear the captain’s “C” for his final season. That selfless act speaks volumes about the character, sportsmanship, and team-first attitude that this award is intended to recognize.

The Alfred Balfry Memorial Award recognizes Team Play, Character, Sportsmanship & Hockey Ability. This award is presented annually to two graduating Grade 12 players: one from a C/House team and one from an A/Rep team. In addition to this recognition, recipients are eligible to receive a $1,000 bursary upon enrollment in a post-secondary institution.

Jayden is recognized for his leadership, character, and commitment to his teammates.

Nominators described him as someone who quietly earned the respect of those around him through hard work, consistency, and a team-first attitude. Throughout the season, he demonstrated what it means to be a great teammate—celebrating the success of others, supporting those around him, and leading by example both on and off the ice. His humility, sportsmanship, and positive influence made him an important contributor to his team’s success and a deserving recipient of this award.

Sebastian is recognized for his leadership, character, and commitment both on and off the ice. Nominators described him as a hardworking and coachable player who consistently supported and encouraged his teammates, serving as a positive influence wherever he was needed.

Beyond hockey, Sebastian has demonstrated a strong commitment to his school and community through volunteer leadership, community service, and giving back to the game as a skating instructor and supporter of young players. His dedication to his teammates, academics, and community exemplifies the values this award was created to recognize.
