2026 Notice of Annual General Meeting
NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Date: Wednesday, June 10, 2026
Time: 7:00pm (final online checks of eligibility will take place at 6:30pm)
Location: Virtual Meeting – Zoom Conferencing
This is the official notice that Burnaby Minor Hockey Association (BMHA) will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
The VIRTUAL AGM will be open to ELIGIBLE MEMBERS ONLY as outlined in the BMHA By-Laws, Part 3 (this includes parents/guardians of registered players, officially rostered team staff and approved committee members):
- All must be members currently in good standing from the 2025/26 season
- Only parents/guardians who previously formally submitted their names (maximum of two per family) during the 2025/26 player registration period will be eligible to attend and vote at the meeting (as per BMHA Bylaws).
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND THIS MEETING
- Following the pre-registration process the Credentials Committee will review all individuals wishing to attend the meeting.
- Zoom access details will be emailed to approved registrants prior to the AGM.
- Only those members who meet the eligibility criteria will be permitted to attend the meeting.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL RESOLUTIONS
The following Special Resolutions will be presented to the membership for consideration at the Annual General Meeting.
Special Resolution #1 – Membership Bylaw Amendments
The proposed amendments update and clarify the membership provisions of the BMHA Bylaws while maintaining the Association’s existing governance structure and voting model. The intent of the amendments is to:
- clarify membership categories and voting rights;
- formally recognize Player Members as non-voting members;
- clarify Parent/Guardian membership and voting limits;
- establish a defined membership year aligned with the hockey season; and,
- clarify member standing and voting eligibility requirements.

Proposed Special Resolution – BE IT RESOLVED AS A SPECIAL RESOLUTION THAT: The Members of Burnaby Minor Hockey Association approve the proposed amendments to the Membership provisions of the BMHA Bylaws as circulated with the Notice of Annual General Meeting and accompanying Membership Bylaw Amendments Package, effective immediately following the conclusion of the 2026 Annual General Meeting.
Special Resolution #2 – Complaints, Discipline, and Appeals Bylaw Amendments
The proposed amendments update and clarify Part 14 – Complaints, Discipline, and Appeals of the BMHA Bylaws while maintaining the Association’s existing governance framework. The intent of the amendments is to:
- clarify Executive oversight and operational administration processes;
- improve communication timelines and procedural clarity;
- clarify the purpose and use of interim suspensions;
- provide broader and more practical discipline outcomes; and,
- improve neutrality and safeguards within the appeals process.

Proposed Special Resolution – BE IT RESOLVED AS A SPECIAL RESOLUTION THAT: The Members of Burnaby Minor Hockey Association approve the proposed revisions to Part 14 of the BMHA Bylaws (Complaints, Discipline, and Appeals) as circulated with the Notice of Annual General Meeting and accompanying Complaints, Discipline, and Appeals Bylaw Amendments Package, effective immediately following the conclusion of the 2026 Annual General Meeting.

NOMINATIONS TO THE 2026/27 BMHA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Nominations are being accepted for the following positions on the 2026/27 BMHA Executive Committee:
- President – two-year term
- Vice-President People – one-year transitional term (Pursuant to BMHA Bylaw 8.8, the Executive has designated the Vice-President People position as a one-year transitional term for the 2026/27 season).
- Vice-President Risk – two-year term
- Vice-President Programs – two-year term
- Director of BMHA Growth – two-year term
- Director of Volunteers – two-year term
Attached to this Notice, and found here, is a summary of the proposed Roles & Responsibilities associated with the open Executive Committee positions. Members considering nomination are encouraged to review the document to better understand the governance, leadership, and operational oversight responsibilities associated with each role.
The BMHA Nominating Committee is accepting names of those persons who may be interested in putting their name forward for election to the 2026/27 BMHA Executive Committee in accordance with our BMHA Bylaws (Part 8 – Executive):
8.5 Nominations of Directors
A Member in good standing may be nominated for election as a Director in accordance with the following rules and such additional policies as may be established by the Executive:
(a) A nomination must be in writing and signed by the Member being nominated and at least two (2) other Members in good standing;
(b) All nominations must be submitted to the Association at least seven (7) days prior to the call to order for the General Meeting. No nominations from the floor will be permitted.
