NHL/NHLPA FIRST SHIFT
The First Shift program is designed to ensure a positive experience to new-to-hockey families by offering a low-cost entry program to hockey. All the equipment and necessities for the program is provided so all you have to do is show up and get involved!
- Open to boys & girls aged 6 to 10 years, who have never registered in minor hockey before.
- On-ice sessions with fun drills are always on the same day of the week, same time and same rink.
- Proper-sized equipment fitted by experts and Hockey Canada-provided insurance.
- Registration fee includes a full set of Bauer hockey equipment and six on-ice sessions.
- Hockey Canada curriculum with drills focused on fun to stimulate a desire for continued participation in hockey.
Registration for the 2025/26 Fall and Winter sessions of First Shift hosted by BMHA will open on June 2nd - 9:00am PST.
The sessions typically fill up almost immediately, so plan to be online when registration opens for the best chance at securing a spot!

PLEASE NOTE
- Participants may only be registered for one program. Please ensure you select the correct program during registration.
- Children who have previously participated in the First Shift program or have been registered with a Local Hockey Association are NOT eligible. For questions, contact: thefirstshift@hockeycanada.ca.
- No transfers will be permitted between June 2 and June 8.
