SCHOLARSHIPS
There are many opportunities for minor hockey players to apply for scholarships to assist with post-secondary education.
BC Hockey Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded annually to BC Hockey registered members to give recognition to those who develop their academic career aspirations while at the same time nourishing their interest in hockey. Monetary awards vary from $500 to $2,000.
To be eligible for a BC Hockey scholarship, an individual in his or her graduating year of high school and must be a current registered member or a former BC Hockey member playing in the Western Hockey League. Applicants are evaluated on academic achievement, sportsmanship, hockey participation and / or quality of contribution, as well as school and community participation and service.
Deadline to apply tends to be late April.
PCAHA Scholarships
Each year the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association awards a number of scholarships in recognition of academic achievement and community/school service combined with hockey participation. If you are (i) a registered player with any team in the PCAHA U18 or U21 divisions, and (ii) in grade 11 or 12 or graduated from high school, you are eligible to apply for PCAHA Scholarships.
Deadline to apply tends to be late March.
PCAHA Scholarship Tournaments
Each year the PCAHA holds special recognition events to promote the ideals of scholastic achievement and sportsmanship combined with participation in Minor Hockey at the U18 and U21 levels, and to showcase the talents of players in these divisions.
