Burnaby Minor Hockey Association is thrilled to announce Ty Babych as our new Director of Hockey and Head Coach of our U15A1 Bulldogs for the upcoming season!

Ty brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and a deep passion for player development. He joins BMHA from the Vancouver NE Chiefs U17 AAA program, where he made a significant impact as a member of the coaching staff in the BCEHL. In addition, Ty was the Head Coach of the Coquitlam Minor Hockey’s U15A1 team for two seasons and was an associate coach & on-ice development coach with the Coquitlam Express.

Ty brings a player-centered approach and a clear vision for the future of BMHA. His commitment to the game, progressive coaching philosophy, and emphasis on mentorship make him the perfect leader to guide our association toward continued growth and development.

In his role as Director of Hockey, Ty will oversee the on-ice programming for all players from U5 to U18. His key areas of focus will include:

  •  Designing and implementing skill-based, age-appropriate development programs
  •  Supporting and mentoring our entire coaching staff
  •  Enhancing long-term player development pathways
  •  Building a strong, inclusive, and competitive hockey culture

Ty’s leadership and experience will play a central role in elevating our players, coaches, and community.  We’re excited for the future of our BMHA players and programs under his leadership!
